South Africa has brought a sudden end to the Black Caps' near year-long unbeaten run at home.

The Proteas have thumped New Zealand by 78 runs in the one-off Twenty20 international at Eden Park, rolling the Black Caps for 107 in pursuit of 186 for victory.

Trent Boult was a stand-out in a losing effort and says if they didn't know South Africa was a class side, they do now.

Boult says the Proteas are stacked with quality players and aren't an opposition to take lightly.

The two sides will travel to Hamilton today, with the first one-day international at Seddon Park tomorrow.
