Athletics New Zealand is satisfied no Kiwis will be caught up in the latest doping allegations to surface in the sport.

Leaked IAAF information suggests a third of endurance Olympic and world champions between 2001 and 2012 returned suspicious tests.

Athletics NZ CEO Linda Hamersley says they're in the early stages of making enquiries regarding New Zealand athletes.

"We haven't been given that information and I would like to think that it won't be our athletes on that list."

Linda Hamersley said they'll also be demanding answers from the IAAF at its congress in Beijing in a fortnight.

"I would expect this will be a topic of conversation to actually say to the IAAF to make a thorough statement and examination of all the information."

Sport New Zealand is aware it has a role to play in getting the anti-doping message out there.

But High Performance Sport NZ boss Alex Baumann said they'll leave any direct involvement in this case to Drug Free Sport NZ.

"That's really their role. I think we have a role certainly from an education point of view but we're not responsible for the testing regime."
