New safe speed cameras are being installed to help improve safety and prevent road trauma.

They will start operating next week in an effort to lower speeds and reduce deaths and injuries on our roads.

In central Auckland, they will be on Tamaki Drive in Parnell and Hillsborough Road in Hillsborough.

One will also be operating on Rata Street in New Lynn.

Five of the cameras will start operating next week in the Southern Police district.

They are on Dunedin's Southern Motorway in Burnside, King Edward Street in South Dunedin, Otatara Road in New River Ferry, Maclaggan Street in Dunedin Central, and Wansbeck Street in Oamaru.
