Rodeo-goers will have to make do without sheep or fireworks from now on.
The Minister for Primary Industries has announced new rules for rodeo events - the first revision in 11 years.
The code bans pyrotechnics and sheep from all rodeo events.
The new code also includes stricter standards for stockmanship, food and water, and the use of animals in events.
Virginia Williams of the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee is confident the code will protect rodeo animals.
But animal advocacy group SAFE says it's impossible to create a humane rodeo.
Calls to industry group the Rodeo Cowboys Association haven't been returned.
