Len Brown has cut the ribbon on the latest addition to Auckland's transport network.

The new link road between Panmure and Glen Innes is the first stage of the Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative.

It's 1.5-kilometres-long and includes a 220 metre covered trench, and will carry 20,000 vehicles a day.

There are also new cycle lanes and a shared cycle and footpath lane alongside.

The road is open for Aucklanders to walk down today, and it will open to vehicular traffic from tomorrow.
