Two motorcyclists are injured after their vehicles crashed in Taranaki today.

Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 3, just south of Hawera, about 1.20pm, central police communications acting shift commander Mark Oliver said.

One motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and the other a broken leg.

A rescue helicopter would be arriving shortly to take the pair to Taranaki Base Hospital, Mr Oliver said.

The area of the crash on SH3 was close while the scene was investigated.
