The Waitangirua community in Porirua is rallying around the residents of Kokiri Crescent.

This as the house where last month's fatal Porirua siege began has been gutted by a fire.

Community Action Waitangirua's Liz Makalio said residents are a bit shaken up so she's organised a morning tea today at the community centre to bring everyone together.

"And we're just going to run from 10 till roughly about 12 o'clock. A bit of a debrief just about how people are feeling, where they're at and how else we can support them to get back to whatever the norm is."

Ms Makalio said it's been a pretty rough time for residents.

"There's a lot of new families to the community there's a lot of people that aren't too familiar with this kind of stuff and there's a lot of our elderly as well that are sitting at home quite shaken up by it."

The morning tea is at the community centre at the back of the Waitangirua Mall at 10am.
