As New Zealand's population gets older, more jobs are opening up in aged care.
Job website Seek has found the supply of candidates for aged and disability support roles is failing to keep up with demand.
General manager Janet Faulding says the sector is a reliable source of employment in an era of constant technological change.
"Having such a focus on the ability to build relationships, it's unlikely these roles will be made redundant in the future."
Lower pay may explain why fewer people are going into aged and disability care than other areas of the sector.
Janet Faulding says supply is matching demand in the rest of the sector, where jobs are better-paid.
"Aged and the disability support positions have an average pay packet of $41,600 - significantly lower than the industry as a whole."
