A North Canterbury man has been found guilty of all three charges in a landmark trial on drone use.
Simon Roy Reeve appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning on two charges of flying in a controlled airspace without permission, and one of causing unnecessary endangerment to a helicopter pilot.
Judge Gary MacAskill made his decision this morning to find him guilty of all charges, following a three-day judge alone trial last week.
The case dates back to the beginning of 2015 where Simon Roy Reeve took footage of a large forest fire in Pines Beach.
The defence argues he wasn't breaching the rules, as he was using trees for a shielded operation.
A sentencing date is yet to be set.
