A 45-year-old man who was on electronically monitored bail, has been found dead in the Waikato River at Taupo.
Oscar Olsen from Tolaga Bay was found in the water between Huka Falls and the Aratiatia Dam on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say he removed his electronic monitoring bracelet at his last known location in Gisborne two weeks ago.
There's a possibility he hitch-hiked to Taupo.
Police are urging anyone who may have given him a lift in the past two weeks to come forward.
He's part Maori, 178cm tall of medium build with receding dark hair.
