UPDATED 1.12PM: Kim Dotcom has spoken for the first time about why he's changed lawyers.
The internet entrepreneur was previously represented by Paul Davison QC, and top firm Simpson Grierson but they suddenly stepped down two weeks ago, with no explanation from either side.
But now a talk Dotcom gave at unBound Digital 2014 has been posted online, where he gets candid about the reason.
"My legal team has recently resigned because I ran out of money after spending ten million dollars to try and defend myself."
Dotcom says he's even put company shares for his new company, Mega, into a trust for his former wife and their five children.
"I was happy to do that because Hollywood has tried to attack the new assets that were generated after the raids," he says.
A spokesperson for Simpson Grierson says they don't comment on clients.
