The Prime Minister acknowledges Kiwis are worried about Chinese investment in New Zealand.
But John Key feels the perception that China has too much influence in New Zealand is misplaced.
He says the level of Chinese investment will increase but that can be controlled.
He says China is going to get wealthier with the middle income group growing by million a year and they want to buy New Zealand products.
"So of course we can say we don't want a bar of that, that's fundamentally the Winston Peters approach.
"But that won't stop those consumers buying those products, you simply won't buy them from New Zealand.
"And how many jobs are underpinned by that."
