The Government is confident they've got the right person for the job to find out if Tony Robertson was properly monitored.
Mel Smith has been asked to head the inquiry into the monitoring of the high-risk offender, and whether the murder of Blessie Gotingco could have been prevented.
Corrections Minister Sam Lotu-Iiga says Smith has spent time in the Department of Justice, including being a Chief Inspector and Secretary for Justice, as well as six years as an Ombudsman.
Lotu-Iiga says he doesn't want to pre-empt any results and how the Government will respond to them.
He knows that the public expect answers, and it is important that the inquiry answers them.
"The expectation from myself and Amy Adams, as well as the public, is that we get to the bottom of what happened, and whether there are any learnings from that we'll make those decisions when we get there."
