New Zealand's history in aerial photographs will now be stored elsewhere, after the company they were with, went into liquidation.

The new company, Opus International Consultants, will store half a million aerial images taken from 1936 to 2005.

Land Information New Zealand will store an additional 145,000 images.

An index of the areas covered will be available through LINZ Data service online.
