Heavy fog has hampered drivers in Auckland this morning.

The New Zealand Transport Agency is warning drivers to take care on the roads.

The thick fog is slowly lifting but motorists still needed to drive to the conditions, the NZTA said.

An Auckland Airport spokesperson said there were "fog restrictions" in place at the airport this morning.

Heavy fog in Auckland this morning caused one domestic flight to be cancelled and 7 to be delayed. No international flights were affected.

However fog restrictions that had been in place were lifted at 7:30am
