UPDATED 2.26pm The site where a body was found in a bale of cardboard at OJI Fire Solutions in Hamilton is closed today while work continues at the company.
Police attended the pulp and paper packaging company incident yesterday morning when workers were looking through the bale and found a human leg.
Police will not yet say whether it is being treated as a homicide, but they have ruled out a workplace accident.
The site where the body was found is closed with a police presence around the accompanying streets while the main building and site is still operational.
An update on the situation is expected this afternoon after a post mortem is completed.
Detective Inspector Hywel Jones the man’s identity and age had still not been established.
“In addition to this examination we have a number of enquiries underway seeking to confirm the man’s identity. At this stage we are still treating his death as unexplained.”
A police spokeswoman also said that reports that the bale of cardboard had been imported were not correct.
