The largest ever investigation of the Gallipoli battlefield has come to an end after five years of hard work on the field.

The joint archaeological survey of the Anzac battlefield had been undertaken by a group of researchers from Turkey, Australia and New Zealand.

During the five years the entire front line was surveyed, including the trenches and positions on both sides of the line.

In the process a total of 1100 relics have been uncovered.

Ministry for Culture and Heritage representative Ian McGibbon says it was great to be a part of the multi-national research team.

He says the interconnection with former New Zealand adversaries was one of the most important aspects of the job for him.
