The Forestry Owners Association won't be satisfied until the number of people hurt and killed in the industry every year reaches zero.
It comes after a Coroner's Inquest into the death of Michael Langford, who died after being pinned between two trees in 2013.
The 28-year-old was one of 10 people to die that year, but so far only one person has been killed in 2015.
Association Technical Manager Glen Mackie wants to see that number reach zero, but said it won't be easy.
"It's something we'll always have to be on our toes. New learnings and new trainings and so forth to make sure we achieve that target."
"There's certification programmes, safety culture programmes, drug and alcohol programmes. All of those, among others, have heightened awareness of the problems."
Forestry has been among New Zealand's most dangerous industries in recent years.
