Final tickets gone in 59 seconds

It took just 59 seconds for all the first allocation of tickets to this weekend's Super Rugby final to be snapped up.

Queues formed outside Ticketek officers in both Wellington and Dunedin ahead of the 4pm launch of tickets for the Hurricanes-Highlanders clash on Saturday.

They all went in less than a minute.

Scalpers have already put tickets to this weekend's Super Rugby final up on Trade Me.

There are tickets on the auction site for $300 but rest assured, more tickets will be available on Wednesday morning.

There's so much excitement about the game, the Hurricanes are working on building extra, temporary seating at the Cake Tin.

Hurricanes CEO James Te Puni didn't expect the tickets to sell so quickly.

"In round figures we had 30,000 so we knew it was going to be strong, but I don't think anyone took 59 seconds in the staff sweep."

Canes prop Reggie Goodes said seeing a rejuvenated fan support is brilliant.

"Look on the street and see heaps of people with Hurricanes flags waving, a few houses have their Hurricanes flag out."

"You definitely see it and you can feel the support."

It will be the first time Wellington has hosted a Super Rugby final, and neither the Hurricanes or the Highlanders have ever won a Super Rugby competition.

The Canes certainly won't struggle for motivation, after a season that included the death of local hero Jerry Collins, and the impending departures of several key players.
