Updated 1:27pm:Â Considerable savings in tackling child abuse and domestic violence is being promised by the Glen Inquiry.
The report out today makes 12 recommendations proposing bold changes, including the setting up of a new Family Violence Court.
Inquiry chairman Bill Wilson QC says while haven't got specific savings, they have commissioned an economics analysis.
"It shows that the cost of family violence is somewhere between four and seven billion dollars a year and I have no doubt at all that the cost of implementing, even our complete package, would only be a small fraction of the savings that could be achieved through reduction in family violence levels."
The blueprint calls for a whole-system approach, a national prevention campaign, and tighter alcohol reform.
It also wants a cross-party strategy, and the appointment of a Family Violence Minister.
In its two-year history, the inquiry's been marred by mass resignations and integrity concerns.
But Labour's Jacinda Ardern says a bold response is required nonetheless.
"In an area where our statistics are as appalling as they are, I do think that we should look at every idea for its merits."
Those who led the two-year inquiry will present their recommendations this morning at 8am.
