Advertising material covering the window of a Christchurch driver may have limited his visibility when his truck a cyclist in April last year.

Christchurch nursing student Sharla Haewera was killed after she was knocked off her bike and dragged under a truck travelling along Lincoln Road.

Coroner David Crerar found there were no faults with the bicycle or the truck, other than the fact the transom window was covered by advertising material.

He said this limited 75-year-old John Herridge's ability to see if anyone was to the left of his cabin area.

Herridge was convicted of careless driving causing death and ordered to pay more than $10,000 to Sharla Haewera's family last October.
