The Police Commissioner has presented the New Zealand Special Service Medal to four radiologists who assisted with victim identification following the Erebus disaster.
It's 35 years since Air New Zealand flight TE901 crashed into Mount Erebus, killing all 257 on board.
Commissioner Mike Bush has presented the medals to Donald Harper, Marian Jones, Ray Symmans and the late Rosemary Doyle, who was represented at the ceremony by her husband and children.
He says thanks to the radiologists' efforts, 38 victims who couldn't be identified during the initial identification phase were returned to their loved ones.
