A flight with 38 passengers and three crew was diverted due to a possible engine issue this morning.

Air Nelson flight NZ8074 from Invercargill to Wellington was diverted to Christchurch.

The airline says the Q300 aircraft landed in Christchurch without further incident and was checked by engineers.

The passengers were accommodated on other services.

Police and the Fire Service were called out to Christchurch Airport as a precaution
