Police in the Eastern District are cutting the number of non-sworn staff across the area.

A review of staffing as identified four positions will be lost from Napier, Hastings and Waipukurau.

"The roles are mainly administrative and no front line officers are affected.

"Eastern District Commander Superintendent Sandra Venables some positions will also change from full time to part time.

"She says the changes are a requirement to meet resource allocation targets."
