It's a win-win for one New Zealand education trust following National's announcement to bring back charter schools, should the party win the next election.
National leader Simon Bridges has promised to reinstate and enhance the model in the first 12 months of office, should they be elected into office.
Villa Education Trust's Alwyn Poole says he's delighted and hopes the announcement will put pressure on the current Government to implement some change.
"We really like what was announced today, but we also like that it may well put pressure on Labour to be much more innovative and much more open and cut some of the red tape."
Mr Poole says tackling the issue at school will have a flow on effect further down the track.
"Things have to change in education for New Zealand for all kids, but especially for Maori and Pasifika children. Moving on, what happens for them after schools and how they're over represented in all sorts of negative statistics."
