A message printed on a camper van has offended a Northland mother as it evoked memories of her daughters violent death.
Karen Edwards daughter Ashlee was murdered when the father of her two children threw her off a Whangarei bridge and held her head under the water until she stopped breathing.
Ms Edwards says when she saw a Wicked Campers van with the message, "I've often wanted to drown my troubles, but I can't get my wife to go swimming," printed on the side, she instantly thought of her daughter.
"My stomach churned when I saw that. It was about how Ashlee was killed, how she was intentionally drowned. It just brought it all back for us, and it's not the sort of thing people need to be seeing."
Karen Edwards is calling for people to boycott Wicked Campers until they remove the messages.
