An Air New Zealand flight originally bound for Tahiti has instead spent four hours circling above the North Island as it burns fuel to land in Auckland again.
Flight NZ40 turned back to New Zealand after an engineering issue was detected.
The plane has landed back in Auckland - and passengers will be transferred to another aircraft due to depart at 3pm.
Air New Zealand's not disclosing exactly what the engineering issue is.
