A record number of Adele concert-goers used public transport on Thursday.
Auckland Transport's Brendon Main said the service carried 80 per cent of those attending the concert to Mount Smart stadium, the highest percentage for any major gig.
"The numbers using public transport were massive, close to 27,000 on the trains and 7600 on buses," he said.
"We'd like to thank people for travelling early. The trains were crowded and some people had to wait after the show but everyone was good humoured and seemed to have a great night."
With Adele set to hold two more concerts on Saturday and Sunday, Mr Main said his team were back on duty and urged fans to once again leave early.
He said Auckland Transport buses and trains would have increased capacity to carry fans over the weekend.
North Shore residents will be able to travel free into the city on Northern Express services from 3.30pm by showing their concert tickets.
There will also be extra services on the Northern Express before and after the concerts.
In the city, fans can then catch special event buses running from Quay Street opposite Queen's Wharf.
Fans returning to the city after the concert can catch the buses along O'Rorke Road, just past Gate C on the left hand side facing Church Street.
There will also be additional trains before and after the concerts on the Southern and Onehunga Lines to and from Penrose, which is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the stadium.
Special late ferries will also operate to Devonport.
