AUDIO: Minister Steven Joyce joins Larry Williams to discuss if the government can do anything to combat Super Rugby scalping.

5000 additional tickets for the Super Rugby final will go on sale tomorrow morning.

A pop up Ticketek stand will be based at Wellington's Te Papa where 2000 tickets will go on sale.

They'll be limited to two per person.

The rest of the tickets will go on sale through normal channels.

The initial offering of tickets sold out on Ticketek within 59 seconds, and several have already been re-sold through TradeMe. Hundreds of fans that lined up in Wellington and Dunedin missed out.

But tickets bought yesterday for $50 are being offered on line for up to $1500.

According to the TradeMe's head of trust and safety Jon Duffy, the government is the only organisation with the power to stop ticket scalping under the Major Events Management Act.

Sports Minister Jonathan Coleman plans to look at having the final reclassified, and said scalping tickets isn't on.

"A Super 15 final is a one-off event, it's a great event. It's not something that was necessarily anticipated until a couple of weeks ago, so he will have to look at that."

Prime Minister John Key agrees, pointing out the Hurricanes had priced the tickets fairly.

"It would be a great tragedy and actually quite wrong for people just to go and buy them on the basis they're affordable so families can go, and then just go and put them on TradeMe at seven hundred and fifty dollars."

Hurricanes chief executive James Te Puni said they are not interested in people "pumping up the prices".

"Frankly if we become aware of someone hocking these off at crazy rates, where we can we will nullify those tickets," he said.
