As tinder dry conditions wreak havoc in parts of the South Island, snowfall warnings have been issued for Milford Road and Lindis Pass.
MetService says snow showers are likely until mid-afternoon on Milford Road, and heavier showers could see up to two centimetres of snow accumulate near the tunnel until 3pm today.
Further snow showers are likely overnight.
The Lindis Pass is also expected to experience snow showers tonight, with up to two centimetres of snow predicted to accumulate on the road above 800 metres.
