Neighbours will today give evidence in the trial of an Invercargill woman charged with breaching a local bylaw and the Health Act, due to her two dozen cats.

Averil Gardiner is on trial in the Invercargill District Court.

Counsel for the Invercargill City Council, Sarah McKenzie told the court yesterday that the cats caused a number of issues for Gardiner's neighbours, including soiling their properties, digging holes and fighting amongst themselves and other cats.
