A woman in her 60s has hand injuries from an accident involving a lawn mower this afternoon.

The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Levin at around midday.

The woman was stabilised by St John paramedics before being flown to Hutt Hospital for specialist treatment.

And a Te Puke man experienced a medical event near Lake Rerewhakaaitu south-east of Rotorua this afternoon.

The 64-year-old needed urgent transport to hospital, so the Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue helicopter was used.

The man's condition was described as time critical, but no further details have been released.
