Whooping cough will make a comeback.
An immunisation doctor says an epidemic will spread throughout New Zealand in the next two years.
Auckland University's Helen Petousis-Harris says the disease is cyclical, which means once we've had an epidemic there'll almost certainly be another one.
And she says if past epidemics ring true, it's our most vulnerable who'll be worst hit.
"Those most at risk of complications are the very youngest, the infants under one - and the younger the baby, the more likely they are to be hospitalised."
