Vitamin, mineral and probiotic fortified toddler milk, or just regular cow's milk?

An Auckland University study is looking into whether so-called 'toddler milk' is better for our kids.

The children involved with the study will be on either toddler milk or cow's milk for 12 months from when they turn one.

The study's PhD candidate, Amy Lovell, explains the study is being conducted in conjoint with Queensland University.

"We'd like to just get a good picture of what our toddlers are eating and how they are growing and developing, looking at their nutrition status, their cognitive developments."

The evaluation will look at trends across a broad group of children.

"We're looking for 80 toddlers in total for Auckland, and Brisbane are looking for 80 as well so the studies mirror each other in different cities."

Lovell acknowledges there's a gap in the nutritional information available for children aged one to two, so the study will be immensely valuable to new mums.
