Providing rural areas with better health facilities is on the agenda at the Innovation Partnership meeting in Christchurch today.

Chair Murray Sherwin says harnessing the power of the internet will help rural residents to access medical care.

"Connecting with GPs without having to travel, because we have a real problem in getting to remote areas. The smarter we are at being able to connect patients the more effective we can be."
