A new medicinal cannabis product is set to make the treatment far more affordable for people suffering chronic pain.
Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne has approved a Canadian pain relief product called Tilray.
It costs about half as much as the existing legal equivalent, Sativex.
Multiple sclerosis sufferer Dr Huhana Hickey told the Herald it'll save her about $700 dollars a month.
"You're still in pain, but you just function. It doesn't become such a big deal anymore. After I've taken it, about half an hour, and I'm lying there, your body just floats into a nice space and you got to sleep."
Tilray is used as an alternative to pain killers such as morphine, codeine and tramadol.Â
