A personal trainer and dog owner has created a boot camp with a difference.

All Active founder Rachel Marks has launched fitness classes that allow people to exercise with their dogs.

She says while such classes are popular overseas, this is the first of its kind in New Zealand.

"A lot of people don't exercise their dogs enough. A lot of people might just go for a short walk, which generally is not sufficient for the dog or the owner and I can just see there's a gap in the market for people to kill two birds with one stone."

Ms Marks says humans and dogs of all fitness and obedience levels are welcome to attend the classes in Upper Hutt.
