The Neurological Foundation has announced that it will be funding a number of projects over the next six months, worth more than $750,000.
These projects include studies into premature babies. They will be looking to significantly improving the outcomes for children born very pre-term.
In addition to this, an Auckland City Hospital neurology registrar will be receiving a funding grant to find a way to reduce the side effects of Parkinson's treatment.
Executive director Max Ritchie said they have given a substantial grant to Dr Viswas Dayal to go to the UK to do his project.
He said she is looking into the side effects of deep brain stimulation - which is a treatment for Parkinson's.
Ritchie said the foundation does all its own fundraising, to go towards research and development programs like these.
