The discovery of E. Coli has forced the closure of a Havelock North school today.

Haumoana School, which is serviced by its own private boa, detected the presence of E.Coli.

They said the positive test was a one off, but they are increasing the regularity of its water testing.

Hastings District Council water engineer Brett Chapman said they're considering all possible action.

“We are taken the precaution of considering the chlorination of the Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clive bores.”

He said they don't believe it's related to the main supply...and need confirmation it's in the same aquifer before taking action.
