New Zealand's disability support system is getting a makeover.
The Associate Heath and Disability Issues Minister, Nicky Wagner, said the current system doesn't work well for disabled people and it's time to improve it for them and their families.
Wagner said part of it will be introducing a personal budget for disability support, made up of funding from multiple government agencies.
It will mean a lot more flexibility and choice around how that money can be used.
She said over the next three months the disability sector will be involved in a co-design process, and cabinet will consider the new system mid-year.
