Concern over high suicide rates amongst Maori.

Research in the New Zealand Medical Journal today finds it's 1.6 times higher than what's seen in non-Maori.

In the 15-25 year old age group it's double and for women and girls in that group, it's five times higher.

Psychiatrist and researcher John Snowden says those rates have got to come down.

He says those giving health services have got to think of a better way to help.
