There are calls to extend Auckland Council's sugary drinks ban beyond leisure centre vending machines.
The council owns 21 leisure centres, with most in South Auckland.
The sugary soft drinks will be replaced with artificially-sweetened diet ones, as well as milk, water and fruit juice.

The New Zealand Dentists Association's Deepa Hughes said they want to see the initiative expanded.
"There's a lot more venues and events at which they could ban the sale of these drinks, so we want this to be extended to a level where it can actually make and impact. Make a change."
She said that they would like to see council go the extra mile and ban artificially sweetened drinks.
