A dramatic rescue from a burning building in Hamilton.
Two police officers were first to arrive in Ulster Street just after 1.30 this morning where a man was trapped upstairs, by flames.
Acting Senior Sergeant Dale Smith says they could hear him yelling for help from his bedroom on the second storey, with no way out.
The two officers raced to the back of the building and persuaded the man to jump and they caught him, just as fire-fighters arrived.
He was taken to Waikato Hospital but discharged himself a short time later.
The scene is under guard and a forensic examination will take place later today to find out if there any suspicious circumstances in relation to the fire.
