Ariana Grande has paid tribute to those affected by the Manchester terror attack at her benefit concert and included a Kiwi classic.

The 23-year-old singer teamed with fellow popstar Miley Cyrus to sing Crowded House's Don't Dream it's Over at her One Love Manchester concert on Monday, New Zealand time.

Cyrus said they had sung the song together before, but had not done so in a while.

They hugged and waved their arms to the 50,000-strong crowd while belting out the lyrics: "Hey now, hey now. Don't dream it's over. Hey now, hey now, when the world comes in. They come, they come, to build a wall between us. We know they won't win.''

Grande returned to the stage in Manchester just 13 days after 22 people were killed in a suicide attack at the Manchester Arena, where she was performing.

The front section of the Old Trafford Cricket Ground crowd was reserved for those who had been at Grande's show on May 22.

The pop singer visited young fans injured in the attack at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Friday.

British singer Marcus Mumford held a moment of silence before opening the benefit concert. The leader of rock band Mumford & Sons then sang Timshel while strumming his guitar.

The song includes the lyrics: "But you are not alone in this, and you are not alone in this, as brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand."
