Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium was a hit with Rod Stewart revelers.

His Saturday night performance drew a crowd of almost 25,000, nearly filling the covered venue.

Frontier Touring Company promoter Brent Eccles says he's heard lots of positive comments about the stadium and how well the show was run.

"It passed with flying colours. It was a very big crowd, they got in very easily, they were well catered for, and the show was spectacular. It was the perfect show for that venue."

Brent Eccles says the show was an absolute hit.

"It was very special and the whole place came alive quickly, and stood on their feet the whole time. It was hit after hit after hit. There were lots of little interesting side bits as well, video bits, interaction, Rod is just a master."

Many concert-goers stated how impressive both the venue and performance was on social media.
