Robert De Niro will receive the 44th annual Chaplin Award, which honours major industry talents.

De Niro is being given the 2017 trophy in recognition of his four-decade acting career,  that stretches from early work including Mean Streets, Raging Bull and The Godfather Part II to more recent projects such as Silver Linings Playbook.

The co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival joins previous recipients such as Alfred Hitchcock, Elizabeth Taylor, Meryl Streep and - last year - Morgan Freeman.
