Singer Ed Sheeran has announced a return to New Zealand, coming hard on the heels of a sold out tour.

The ginger haired crooner won hearts and fans throughout his visit, and the announcement will delight his Kiwi fans.

The sole show will take place at Mt Smart Stadium in December, at the tail end of 4 shows in Australia.

Once again, he will perform an entirely solo set, creating all of the music with his voice, guitar, and a set of effects pedals. 

Sheeran currently has two songs in the top 5 of the New Zealand singles chart. Bloodstream, his collaboration with Rudimental, sits at number 2, and mega hit Thinking out Loud sits at number 5.

His album X (Multiply) has gone platinum 4 times in New Zealand. It's currently number 1 on the album charts, and has been on the list for 43 weeks.  

His single I See Fire was part of the soundtrack for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
