A woman, thought to have been abducted from Newmarket earlier this week, has been located "safe and well" by police.

Members of the public said the woman was forced into a car on Tuesday morning near the intersection of Broadway and Manukau Road.

Police launched a search for the woman, fearing for her safety.

They say the woman was found because of members of the public who assisted with information.
