A woman has died in a shooting incident in Greymouth this afternoon.

Police are still not releasing details about exactly what happened, but say it occurred shortly after 4pm.

Officers descended on an address in Marsden St near the Sinnott Rd intersection in Greymouth.

A neighbour who has asked not to be named told us at least 10 armed police swarmed the area.

The street had been cordoned off from Sinnott Rd.

Police say they are still making inquiries to establish exactly what unfolded.
