A woman is in a stable condition in Auckland City Hospital after suffering horrific leg injuries when she fell between a train and a platform.

The woman was reportedly late getting into a southbound train at Glen Innes about 6.30 last night.

Witness Saskia Clegg says she tried to open the closed doors, the security guard tried to pull her back, but she lost balance and fell into the gap.

She suffered a severe laceration to her leg, but managed to get back on the platform, preventing more serious injuries.
